Siouxsie & the Banshees were the original punk fans who refused to bow to the movement’s limited, three-chord convention and encroaching laddishness. Elitist and edgy, glamorous and experimental, they were the driving force for post punk bands such as Pil and Joy Division, deviant pop obsessives who refused to become straitjacketed by their cultish mien.
